North America Life is a company with a large vision. Since its formation in 1983, the company has focused exclusively on providing final expense insurance and insurance products used to fund pre-arranged funerals. Likewise, current senior management has been active in these marketplaces for over 15 years. In the year 2000, when North America Holdings acquired North America Life, the first step toward realizing our vision was accomplished.
We, at North America Life, want to build the finest privately owned company serving the senior market. We believe first and foremost in service…to our policyholders and to our agency force. We offer competitive agent compensation packages. We are continually researching to improve on our reasonably priced, innovative products designed specifically for the senior market.
There are many benefits of working with our company. Because of our size, we have great agility. We process business weekly and pay our agents weekly based on the prior week's production. We are able to move rapidly in implementing product and procedural changes. Most importantly, we are able to provide a higher level of personalized service. Our new issue process is one of the fastest in the industry. Business submitted by the beginning of a week is processed and issued by the close of that week. In addition for the year 2001, we have not declined to issue any properly completed application.
A disadvantage often times associated with a small company is lack of capital strength. We have addressed that issue by aligning ourselves with large, strongly rated reinsurers that have a keen interest in what we are doing. We have developed relationships with some of the largest reinsurers in the country to provide, through reinsurance, capital support for our significant growth plans. We have a very strong actuarial team that has given the reinsurers a high level of confidence in our business strategy.
We have also developed a reinsurance arrangement with North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company whereby we are able to offer our product designs through NCM. This relationship allows our field force to market our product designs in 38 states. Under this arrangement, we, at North America Life, still provide all of the administrative support and customer service for these products.
